NUNA TRIV NEXT REVIEW: 8 REASONS WE CHOSE THIS POPULAR STROLLER

Since we’re first-time parents, I thought about holding off on the stroller review for a while. But I’ve received so many messages asking which one we chose and why... and I totally get it! There are so many stroller options out there, and the search can get overwhelming very quickly. So, I decided to share our decision-making process now and update this post once our little one arrives and we’ve used it for a while.

Nuna TRIV Next Review

NUNA TRIV NEXT REVIEW: 8 REASONS WE CHOSE THIS POPULAR STROLLER

Before doing too much research, we knew we wanted a stroller that was easily compatible with whichever car seat we chose. I was also looking for something easy to maneuver, lightweight, and compact enough for me to set up and take down on my own.

Key features of the Nuna TRIV Next stroller

1. Ultra-compact design

One of the main highlights of the Nuna TRIV Next is its ultra-compact design. It weighs just 19.4 pounds (approx. 8.8 kg), making it one of the lightest options we’ve reviewed. We love how easy it is to lift and carry; plus, storing it is a breeze since it doesn't take up much space. We’ve literally kept it in our coat closet—completely out of the way—ever since we got it. It’s fantastic!

2. One-handed fold

In addition to its compact and lightweight design, you can also fold it with just one hand. We were impressed when we first saw it in action. Both folding and unfolding the stroller are incredibly simple, so I don't have to worry about struggling with it when I'm alone and holding the baby.

3. Compatible with the Nuna PIPA car seat

We chose the Nuna Pipa RX car seat before deciding on the stroller because it is very lightweight and has an excellent safety rating. As you’d expect, we love that the TRIV Next is fully compatible with this seat, making it super easy to move the baby from the car to the stroller without waking them up.

4. Comfortable, reclinable seat

Once the child is old enough, the TRIV Next seat proves very spacious and comfortable for the little one, featuring a backrest that adjusts to multiple recline positions. It offers a near-flat recline (horizontal position) and a five-point harness system.

5. All-terrain wheels

At first, we were a bit concerned that this stroller might be too compact, but ultimately, I think its all-terrain wheels can handle whatever we need. We’ve taken a few test walks with Luna, and it seems to handle uneven sidewalks with great ease.

6. Large canopy

The TRIV Next’s extendable canopy offers excellent sun protection, with a UPF 50+ rating. It also includes a peek-a-boo window that lets you keep an eye on the baby without having to stop or adjust the canopy.

7. Easy to clean

The Nuna TRIV Next was designed with parents in mind, featuring elements that make cleaning a breeze. The seat fabric is removable and machine-washable, while the rest of the stroller can be quickly wiped down with a damp cloth. You might even want to save some money and buy it in this lighter color for $525 instead of black—just like we did!

8. Premium materials and construction

Nuna has built a strong reputation for high-quality baby products, and the TRIV Next is no exception. Although it is more compact than other options, it feels durable and sturdy, and is built to last.

How does the Nuna TRIV Next compare to other options?

Undoubtedly, every available stroller model has its pros and cons—and what worked best for us might not be the right fit for you! Whether a compact design isn't a priority for you, or you plan to have children close in age and are looking for a double stroller option, one of these other alternatives might suit you better. Here is a brief comparison of the three models we considered:

Nuna TRIV Next

NUNA TRIV NEXT REVIEW: 8 REASONS WE CHOSE THIS POPULAR STROLLER

  1. Weight: 19.4 lbs (approx. 8.8 kg)
  2. Folding: Compact and one-handed
  3. Size: Compact and lightweight; designed for easy transport and storage
  4. Build quality: Premium materials; sleek, modern design with durable fabrics and a sturdy chassis
  5. Seat recline/Compatibility: Near-flat recline (lie-flat position); compatible with car seat and carrycot adapters
  6. Harness: 5-point harness
  7. Canopy: Large and extendable, with UPF 50+ protection
  8. Seat fabric: Soft, easy to clean, and machine-washable
  9. Wheels: All-terrain (7-inch front, 10-inch rear)
  10. Suspension: All-wheel suspension for a smooth ride
  11. Maneuverability: Excellent; lightweight and easy to handle in tight spaces and urban environments
  12. Basket: Small and accessible
  13. Storage: Suitable for everyday items (like a diaper bag or light shopping), but insufficient for bulky objects
  14. Double stroller option: No

I think the Nuna TRIV Next is the most logical choice for city dwellers, those with limited space, travel enthusiasts, and anyone looking for something truly easy to handle. The other options felt a bit intimidating to me—especially the thought of going out alone with the baby—but this compact, lightweight design feels approachable and manageable.

It might NOT be the ideal choice for you if you are looking for a larger storage basket for groceries or long outings, if you need larger wheels for rough terrain, or if you plan to have more children and will need a model that converts into a double stroller.

UPPAbaby Vista

  1. Weight: 27 lbs (approx. 12.2 kg) with the seat
  2. Folding: Folds with one hand, but takes up more space than the Nuna TRIV Next
  3. Size: Large, full-sized stroller
  4. Build quality: High-quality materials, including a sturdy aluminum frame and premium fabrics.
  5. Recline/Seat compatibility: Multi-position recline (includes a full lie-flat position for newborns) + car seat and bassinet compatibility
  6. Harness: Height-adjustable 5-point harness
  7. Canopy: Extra-large, extendable canopy with UPF 50+ protection
  8. Seat fabric: Breathable premium fabrics; the seat cover is removable and washable
  9. Wheels: Front and rear wheels with shock-absorbing system
  10. Suspension: All-wheel suspension system for a smooth ride on various surfaces
  11. Maneuverability: Excellent, though it is heavier and bulkier than the Nuna TRIV Next and the Mixx, making it harder to handle in tight spaces
  12. Basket: Large under-seat basket with easy access
  13. Storage: One of the highest-capacity baskets on the market, ideal for long outings or carrying multiple items
  14. Double stroller option: Yes

I know many people who love the UPPAbaby Vista, but for me, it felt like too much. Since it is larger and heavier than the other options, we seriously considered whether the extra features mattered to us... and the answer was no. That said, they might be important to you!

I often hear people praise its smooth ride, spacious storage basket, and overall top-notch quality. However, I’ve also spoken to several people who bought it intending to use it as a double stroller... only to find that the configuration didn't work for them. Keep that in mind if that aspect is important to you!
