Back to School Hair Hacks for Girls

Transitioning from summer days—when you sleep in—to having to get up early again for school always requires an adjustment period. Fortunately, with these simple hairstyling tricks for girls, getting ready in the morning can be quick and easy. That leaves more time for sleeping... right?

Back-to-school hairstyling hacks to make mornings easier

Use a leave-in detangler before bed

Apply a leave-in detangler to damp hair before going to sleep. This prevents knots and tangles from forming overnight. Give it another quick spritz before brushing your hair in the morning. We love the Suave Kids hair care line because it’s tear-free and smells delicious! Plus, it’s affordable, and a single bottle lasts a long time.

The right tools make all the difference

I freely admit that I’m no hairstyling expert, and we don’t have time for me to practice in the mornings. However, sometimes the girls want to feel extra special. That’s why I love bobby pins and hair clips! They go in in a second and keep hair out of their faces all day long. You can use clips or barrettes for the simple hairstyles shown below.

Bun makers (often called "sock buns") are a favorite of Jennifer, the blogger behind *Sugar Spice & Glitter*. They add instant volume and let you create a beautiful updo in minutes. (They’re perfect for moms, too!)

Yes, you read that right! All you need is a bobby pin or a hair clip, and you’re all set! Here’s a quick video demonstration (detailed instructions follow below): For the first style, start by parting the hair down the middle or to the side. Starting at the part, twist the hair back toward the back of the head while running your hands along the side of the face. Secure it behind the ear with a clip. For the second style, take a small section of hair—about half an inch (1.3 cm)—near the face, level with the eyes. Twist or braid it and use it to pull the rest of the hair away from the face. Secure the twist or braid with a clip.

You can do the same thing on the other side for a relaxed, bohemian look!
