Still, trying to discover products to sell online?
Starting your first online store can increase anxiety.
You want to sell physical products and make a profit. And to get there, you need data you can trust and an intelligent e-commerce business model.
There are hundreds of ways to make money, hundreds of potential niches, and millions of online products, the foundation of your success comes down to two things.
- The right products and
- A target market
Don’t let fear of failure keep you from the research process. The good news is that there is always an opportunity, and you can learn the correct steps here for free. You need a process to know what things to sell online are worth it.
Don’t pick something randomly based on a hunch.
How to find trending products to sell
The general process that I like to follow is:
- Research ideas on Google Trends
- Find market data to see if industry sales are growing.
- Limit to product categories using Google search volume
- Search blogs and influencers to find popular topics.
- Reach out to your competitors, suppliers, and manufacturers before spending money. First Look at the prices and then go to the inventory levels from day to day to see if they are successful.
When selecting products, keep a strict focus and find the best spot. But make sure you have a great mix of low, medium, and high prices.
Depending on your niche, you may need to have a “cheap product” to attract customers and then sell them later.
Things to sell and be successful
1. Cellulite removal
Although cellulite removal is a niche category, a new product in this space is quickly taking the lead.
The Anti-Cellulite Massager / Vacuum is a high-priced item that you can use as the perfect addition to a sample-size cellulite cream.
If you wanted to jump into this trend right now, I would do the following:
- You can easily get anti-cellulite cream in $ 1 at Ali Express.
- Create a Facebook ad campaign and offer the product for free. (Customer pays to ship)
- Get their email before requesting payment.
- After purchase, show them a one-click upsell to a higher-priced cream.
- Run email marketing automation to educate them on weight loss.
- Shake them up with a coupon code for an Anti-Cellulite Vacuum
- You could even try using the Vaccum as the one-click upsell.
2. Products to sell: Bluetooth speakers
Bluetooth speakers were on every businessmen’s list a few years ago and are still very popular. Case in point: Gronkball.
This product is the perfect example of an entrepreneur tapping into a rapidly growing market and reaching a passionate audience.
The wireless speaker industry will grow 10% annually to $ 31.80 billion by 2023.
3. Vape / electronic cigarettes
Like it or not, Vaping (of all kinds) is a massive trend. And it will likely rise even more once marijuana is legal everywhere.
Indeed, there is an element of lifestyle and a community to leverage to establish a brand in this fast-growing niche.
The e-cigarette industry is expected to grow to $ 61 billion by 2025. This niche has everything you want. Products at low, medium, and high prices.
Sales and cross-selling opportunities, search volume, and trends. If you can adjust with this heavily regulated industry, you could be successful in this niche.
4. Drones and accessories
I love the high price of drones. It combines all the accessories and a passionate community and has all the makings of a great niche. There is an educational element that you can provide to differentiate your store from others.
Drones expect a $ 5B industry, and soon you will see more units are expected to take off.
The other thing I like about drones is that there are different levels of drone users. You can maximize customer lifetime value by selling entry-level products, accessories, and products to sell higher-end products to more experienced users.
5. Subscription boxes
Nothing says “lifetime customer value” better than monthly recurring billing. That is mostly what you get when you sell a subscription box. Keep billing until the product is canceled.
What happens is that people are OBSESSED with subscription boxes. Customers are excited to receive these things every month.
There are tons of bloggers and influencers covering a subscription products.
The subscription box industry is growing 200% annually. And you can create a subscription box around any passion. Coffee, makeup, personal care, you name it, the industries are waiting to be exploited.
See how Dollar Shave Club changed the shaving industry.
6. Products to sell: Online food delivery
This growing industry is expected to reach sales of $ 30B in 2025.
Looking at this post, you must think, “How can I match this product with passionate crowds?” And formulate your idea.
You can easily combine this idea with subscription boxes and access two growing markets at the same time.
The fact that Amazon is going big in this space should be a sign to all entrepreneurs.
Denim is back in fashion! At least that’s what Google is saying when searching for keywords.
I am not a fashion expert. I wear gym shirts and shorts every day. Khakis when I feel elegant.
8. LED lighting
In general, LED lighting is a growing trend. But I would focus on a subset like outdoor lighting or kitchens. You will not make money selling regular LED bulbs.
Some people are able to spend $ 100K to update their backyard. Including a kitchen and lots of remote control LED lights.
And there are not a few who spend this type of money. The LED market is growing 13% annually and going to reached $ 55B in 2022.
You can create a great content site around outdoor living spaces and sell lighting and related products.
Shapewear is tight-fitting underwear designed to control and shape your body. Shapewear is a perfect example of a specific starting point. It’s not as big as women’s fashion or underwear, but it’s expected to grow to roughly $ 6 million by 2022.
You will always find many influencers and bloggers in this fashion industry.
10. Matcha powder/tea
People will always be interested in losing weight quickly. Nothing is easier than making a cup of tea.
If you are from Japan, you probably don’t need any explanation. But for whatever reason, matcha tea has been toying with the popularity of green tea for the past decade.
It comes from the same plant as green tea, but it is less processed and contains significantly more health benefits.
Every year more and more consumers realize the health benefits of matcha. Matcha is a $ 300 million market and is expected to grow 8% each year.
This product is estimated to sell around $ 18K per month on Amazon.
11. Magnetic phone accessories
A lot of people made money shipping magnetic phone chargers in late 2016. It’s hard to build a brand around fads, but I think this one has a bit more chance of success than just phone chargers.
Overall, the smartphone accessory market is expected to grow to $ 108 billion by 2022. But it is HIGHLY fragmented.
If you don’t want to worry about finding the specific product to sell, you can copy Android Central and take the Amazon affiliate route.
The waxing market is expected to grow 9% annually to reach $ 1.3B in 2022. But again, waxing is too broad. It would be best if you found a secondary niche in this category.
Remember, if you are struggling to find a niche. Just use this formula: product category for your target market.
Example: Waxing for the hardcore female athlete.
You can sell multiple product niches to that person.
13. Things to sell: Minimalist watches
Watches will always be a good niche. It is constantly growing in sales (8%) and search volume every year. Watch lovers usually have several.
Jay-Z reportedly owns hundreds of them.
The trick is to find an area within this niche untapped and give them something new to add to their collection.
Minimalist watches are a trending product worth looking at. Minimalism, in general, is gaining strength.
14. Dog bowls
I don’t have to tell you, but the pet industry is huge. $ 70B a year. Some people love their pets more than their children.
Dog bowl sales are generating $ 350K per month.
You can sell collapsible dog bowls or customizable cat bowls. No matter.
What matters is choosing a narrow focus area and finding a unique angle.
People who buy dog bowls will be interested in the health and nutrition of the dog. This gives you an incredible opportunity to expand content marketing and social media.
Just make sure to validate your individual product ideas.
15. Detox tea/juice
Several different types of teas and juices have detoxification benefits. Create a brand around these different ones or start with just 1 and expand from there.
The overall juice detox market is $ 3.4 billion, so surely there is a good niche to have there.
Being organic is always a good idea. You can add B12 and vegan goals too.
If you sell products on Amazon, Etsy, or Ebay, you’ll want to make sure you have your own website. It costs a lot to acquire clients. You need to be able to sell them in the future.
I strongly recommend that you do your own research. Use these ideas as a starting point. Then match the product niche to sell with a passionate target audience to create your own brand.
The best products are those with a clear target audience.
